Summer Preston, P.A. provides clients with a level of depth, expertise, and quality that is often associated with larger firms. Our approach is always to provide a level of personal attention, continuity, responsiveness, and cost efficiency that few large firms can match. Our practice areas include:
Family Law is an area of law that deals with family related issues such as divorce, timesharing (custody/visitation), parental responsibility, paternity, adoption, child support, alimony/spousal support, modification of court orders, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
Bankruptcy is the process by which consumers can stop foreclosure, repossession, garnishments and lawsuits by resolving debt. Individuals may choose to file bankruptcy to resolve a bleak financial situation, or to delay debt-collection for a period of time to allow for financial reorganization. Personal Bankruptcy generally takes one of two forms: Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.
Chapter 7 Bankruptcy is a way for Debtors to get a “Fresh Start” and eliminate most, if not all debt. When you have no hope of repaying debts with your income and are likely to be sued by creditors and lenders, Chapter 7 bankruptcy may be an option.
Chapter 13 is an alternative to Chapter 7 bankruptcy and is designed for individuals with regular income who want to pay their debts, but need some time to do so. Under Chapter 13, debtors repay their creditors, either in full or in part, over a period of up to 5 years. Chapter 13 is also an alternative for those whose homes are in foreclosure or vehicles are in danger of being repossessed and they want to retain that property.
